May 01 2014Why “No Name”? Choosing a product is always a creative endeavor for the team at VISO. Where does one begin?
In light of this intriguing task both challenging and fun, VISO, a Toronto based light design and manufacturing firm, challenged the visitors of the Light + Building trade fair with a “Name Me To Win Me” contest.
No Name, which at the time had no actual name, was displayed for one week. Visitors were given the opportunity to name the light, explain what the name means and why. The winner of the contest would win all 5 fixtures on display. With such an interesting shape and colour, this fixture attracted a wide variety of names.
As the fixture was being named, the industry started referring to it as the light with “No Name”. It was only fitting then, that the winner should be one who submitted “No Name”.
Destined to be nameless, No Name is an hourglass-‐shaped LED suspension light fixture that comes in two semi translucent finishes: Copper and Silver. The effect varies as the LED light hits the different curves of the fixture, making each No Name light unique. Filipe Lisboa, head designer and CEO of VISO wanted to keep “an organic quality” by allowing variances in the width (and curves) of the light. No Name measures 14” in height and is suspended by a 10’ cable.
Custom clusters and drops are available on request.
