VISO COMBINES LIGHT AND ART FOR SPECTACULAR BDNY DISPLAY

October 07, 2019 2 min read

VISO is inspired by a wide spectrum of themes. From art and architecture to nature and food, our team finds inspiration where ever they go. At BDNY, we combine light and art to highlight our different inspirations.

NATURAL INSPIRATION

Several of our lighting designs are heavily influenced by nature and will be showcased at BDNY. They include the Chestnut, Wandering Star, Thin LED, The Ring and Cubie. Additionally, many of our custom designs call Mother Nature its muse. A great example is the Interlock chandelier which mimics the interlocking basalt columns created by ancient volcanic fissure eruptions. This fixture, designed by Toronto-based design firm II by IV,was originally created for NAO Steakhouse (now Estia Restaurant) in Toronto. It features 150 clear acrylic tubes in various heights and includes four T5 58W 3000k LED strips placed within the central metal columnand measures 90”/2286mm in diameter and 106”/2696mm in height. The version that will be on display at BDNY will be 70”/1778mm in diameter and 79.68”/2024mm in height and features 130 clear acrylic tubes in various heights.

V FOR VISO

In New York, our massive 16-foot “V” for VISO will feature original art created by our own Art Director, Marketing, Antonio Pendones. The structure, which was first showcased at the HD Show in Las Vegas, will be transformed into a light box featuring a custom print from Antonio’s “Jewels” series. The artwork series is inspired by the vibrancy of precious gems, their shimmer and their light refracting properties. The Green Jewel was specifically chosen for BDNY because the colour palette speaks to the natural elements of our design inspiration. It is VISO’s goal to bring some greenery to the urban jungle of New York while reflecting on the natural elements of our design inspiration. Additionally, with the environment at the forefront of so many conversations going on today, we felt inspired to create an environmentally conscious showpiece for BDNY.

THE ARTIST

Art is a significant inspiration for VISO and we are thrilled to use this opportunity to highlight one of the many talented people working at VISO. Along with being our Art Director, Antonio is also an established artist who works with a variety of media. With this collaboration, Antonio is returning to New York City where he began his career as a Graphic Designer with The New Yorker Magazine.

Attention to detail is in the DNA of what we do at VISO and that has certainly translated to our BDNY booth design. There are so many more elements of the booth to discover and we cannot wait to show you when BDNY kicks off on November 10that the Javits Convention Center. Make sure you come by to visit us at Booth #3457!
