UNION PEARSON EXPRESS ROCKS!

Now with a booming 6.1 million population, Toronto citizens find themselves in the middle of a growing need for improved infrastructure.   As in many other major International cities, traffic can be somewhat of a challenge to weave through during peak hours of the working day. An answer to this common solution, in Toronto, Union Pearson Express was recently introduced by Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario.

An express air-link rail was recently completed in order to connect the Toronto Pearson International Airport and Union Station in a reliable 25 minutes. This new train is called the Union Pearson Express (UP Express) and is expected to encourage business, spark economic growth, and make Toronto an attractive tourist destination. According to the Metrolinx press release dated June 2, 2015, this revolutionary train is expected to eliminate 1.2 million car trips in the first year alone.

We, at VISO, want to mention that we think that design-wise, the UP Express rocks! Canadian Tyler Brûlé, the founder of Winkreative, oversaw the interiors design, marketing branding, and even the conductor uniforms that were designed by Klaxon Howl, another Canadian fashion designer. Other notable firms who made this project come together are Hosoya Schaefer Architects, Adamson Associates Architects, Morrison Hershfield and Zeidler Partnership Architects.

VISO is proud to be located in Toronto where the UP Express was conceived and delivered to the public in style. We love the tight-knit collaboration that takes place between all the different professionals. Most of all, we are excited about our new ride to the airport which is, in a way, a little bit like the Wild Beast speed ride at Canada’s Wonderland! Please tell us your experience with traffic and riding this fast train! We would love to hear how you feel about it!
