VISO partners with Turner Development to deliver a stunning custom commercial lighting project that is the talk of the town.
Project Goals
The goal of the project is to create a unique, breath-taking working environment that is aesthetically and technologically up to par with a high-profile tenant that Turner Development, our strategic partner, recently signed to a long-term lease.
The tenant, CH Robinson, is ranked 208 on the Fortune 500 list. With offices around the world, CH was looking to break out of the normal office environment for one of their major east coast locations. They wanted a signature space that no one else has; a place to call their own that represents the multi-national business environment they work in.

“I told CH Robinson early on during lease negotiations that I was going to build them the best office in the CH portfolio, I hope that we delivered.”
Design Inspiration
Turner Development wanted to do something unique and one-of a-kind. The lighting for this space is highly visible and on display at all times. With floor to ceiling, 25-feet / 7.6m tall windows installed on three sides, the custom commercial lighting must have a “wow” factor for people in the office and for those walking outside.
Said Eric:
“Lighting is often times an afterthought, but we went into this project knowing that we had to do something big, something special in the open collaborative area which dominates the center of the new office.”
Challenge and Solution
Timing was one of the biggest challenges on this project. CH Robinson had a specific date they needed to move in and the moving trucks were going to show up regardless if the space was ready or not.
To create a show-stopping lighting piece with the tight timeline, experience in custom commercial lighting and flexibility in service is key. Not wanting to compromise on the lighting and the value engineering that is required, Turner Development approached VISO with the challenge of designing and manufacturing three massive custom chandeliers within a tight timeline.
Working closely with the development team at Turner, VISO design-engineered three colossal 84” / 2134mm custom matte black fixtures based on our Ring lights. Using 3000K LED, the lights create a formidable presence in the main lobby. Once quality control and final testing of the lights was completed at VISO’s Toronto facility, the chandeliers were shipped to Baltimore. The window was tight between delivery and move-in. However, VISO’s custom commercial lighting capabilities and expertise leaves no room for error and VISO also provide support on the installation every step of the way.
